Im Still Here

I know I haven't posted in a LONG while, but I have been soooooo busy with work that it takes up A LOT of my time. I have read so many books in the past months that I will be blogging about soon when my hectic work life gets less busy.

New Book Alert - My Name Is Memory by Ann Brashares

Release Date in Hardback 24th June 2010

I have fallen in love and she is the one who endures me.
I killed her once and died for her many times and I will have nothing to show for it.
I always search for her. I always remember her.
I carry the hope that someday she will remember me.

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of "My Name is Memory" by Ann Brashares (author of Sisterhood of the traveling pants) and I'm glad I took the book along with me on holiday. The book is a real page turner and I was so hooked I couldn't put it away.

The book is the first book in a trilogy and what a great start with book one.
The book tells the story of Daniel who over time gets reincarnated and finds himself falling in love with the same girl over and over again Lucy. Their story spans a thousand years but sadly they are always torn apart and sometimes with fatal consequences.

What I loved about this book was the way Ann tells the story from Daniel and Lucy's points of view, also the story is told over time. The book can be described as The Time Traveler's wife  (due to the intensity of the story and it covers past and present times) meets Twilight or The Immortals, as all three books deal with the issues of forbidden/impossible/passionate true love.

If you love reading and love Ann's books or books like Time Travelers wife, Twilight and The Immortal series you will love this book, perfect for reading on the beach if you are jetting off for summer or at home while chilling.

I am also excited that a Hollywood movie version is on its way. I can't wait to watch it.

Jetset Books - Books To Pack In Your Case This Summer

It's that time of the year when everyone goes crazy and excited about summer vacations as this often means traveling somewhere nice and hot (that's if you are leaving from the UK). I will be packing my cases soon and heading for destination sunshine, but not without taking a couple of books to read.
I need a book for the plane, a book or two for when I'm on the beach or just lounging and a book for my journey back home.

Books that I have selected to take with me on my trip are based on how heavy the book is (I don't want books using up space that I can use for shoes in my case). I also like easy and quick to read books, usually chick lit nothing too heavy or emotionally draining, basically a "happy romantic easy to read book"

For the plane journey I plan to read "Until You" by Judith McNaught. "Until You" is the spin off from "Whitney My Love" which I read a couple of months ago and I LOVED it. In "Until You" it tells the story of Stephen Westmoreland the brother of Clayton Westmoreland from "Whitney My Love". I love reading historical romance books as they remind me of  "Gone with the wind" which will always be one of my favorite movies ever.

Until You

For the beach/lounging "Confetti Confidential" by Holly McQueen , this book is not due for release until June but I was lucky to get a copy at a recent event I attended, cant wait to read it

Confetti Confidential  What is says on the back of the book :
"Isabel Bookbinder dreams of pearly white weddings, happy brides, handsome grooms. And champagne towers that don't topple over. She dreams of the perfect wedding. But not for herself...for her clients. It's all about bride management as far as Isabel's concerned. Even when she misplaces a couple of brides and loses her job working for wedding guru Pippa Everitt, Isabel isn't disheartened. She throws herself straight into launching Isabel Bookbinder, Individual Weddings, and with a pop starlet and a millionaire as her first clients, business is looking rosy. Unfortunately for Isabel, nothing ever goes quite according to plan..."
For the journey back home "A Summer Fling" by Milly Johnson

Recently Read- My Single Friend by Jane Costello

My Single Friend

I have just finished reading "My Single Friend" by Jane Costello. The book tells the story about Lucy who is 28 years old, has a successful career in PR, a great boss and the best friends a girl could wish for. However Lucy is flat mates with Henry who has been her best friend for over 20 years. One day Lucy and her friends decide to give Henry a makeover to un-geekify him so that he can get lucky in love as he isn't doing so well in that department. The makeover turns out to have unexpected outcomes with Lucy seeing a side of her best friend Henry that she never noticed before. Could Lucy be falling for her best friend Henry ?

What I loved about this book was that it was so funny from the start, and I knew from the first chapter that the book will quick, easy and an enjoyable read. The characters were easy to understand and likeable, also they all had a relevance in the plot. I couldn't put the book down while reading it as there were unexpected twists in the story that kept me reading on.
If you need a book to take on holiday to read on the beach I recommend this book as its laugh out loud funny with a sweet romantic story as well.
